Fading Images

Fading looks best if your image is layered, so that only parts of it fade.

1.) Open your image. If you're looking for a effect that has an image faded into the background, your image MUST be layered. This can be achieved by copy/pasting image on top of the background and each other. If you just copied a random completed image from the web, the layers will be flattened and you are likely not to achieve your effect.

Anyway, mine looks like this:

My layers are like this:

2.) Find where it says "Opacity". It should be at 100%, which means completely vivid. Drag the little arrow to the left and the percent will go down. Meanwhile, the layer which the opacity you're changing should start fading as the percent goes down.

Now my image looks like this:

You cannot fade the background. The example I have isn't the best, but this is just a little tutorial to give you an overview of how to fade. ;)
