Applying Textures and Brushes
To apply textures and brushes, you must download the brush's .abr file and save textures as .psd. This is a tutorial on how to use brushes and textures that you find on the Web instead of the default preset ones that you have already.
1.) Go to File >> Open and open the file you want to apply a brush or texture to.
I'll just start a plain new file for the sake of this tutorial:
2.) Now, click the Brush tool on your toolbar.
Go up to where you select Brush presets and click on the little blue arrow, then down to Load Brushes....
3.) Find the brush (a .abr file) that you want to use and open it. Now scroll down the brush presets and the brushes you loaded should be at the bottom. If you want it to permanently appear on the presets, you'll have to drag the .abr file into the brush preset files through My Computer >> Local Disk (C:) >> Program Files >> Adobe >> Photoshop Elements 2.0 or whatever you have >> Presets >> Brushes.
4.) Now that you have your brushes loaded, start using 'em! =D
The brush I used here is from Celestial-Star.net.
1.) Open the file you want to apply the texture to. I'm using this one:
2.) Go up to Filter >> Textures >> Texturizer. You should now have this window open:
Go to the Texture drop down menu and select Load Texture. Now, the texture you want to load MUST be a .psd file or it won't appear in your documents. After you've selected it, click "Okay" and you're done! ^^
The texture I used for this tutorial is from Starwindcafe.com.
